2020 was the deadliest year for Lake Michigan drownings, with 53 people losing their lives to the lake as of October 1st.

To do our part to prevent another record high of fatal incidents at our surf spots, we are hosting a Surf Rescue Course to ensure that members of our surf community go into the summer surf season with confidence to keep themselves, and those around them safe.

Join us Sunday, June 27th from 9:00am to 12:00pm in Frankfort, Michigan (exact location weather dependent and to be shared at least 48 hours prior to the event). Be ready to dive in and expand your knowledge on water safety and open water rescue techniques that will prepare you in the case of an incident in the surf.

At the same time, she inadvertently fell in love with lifeguarding and rescuers in all the forms they come in. After earning a beach lifeguard certification during a British Surfing Association Instructor certification course, she continued on to lifeguard in two different countries (apart from the USA), a few National Parks and most recently as head lifeguard in New Buffalo, Michigan where she has had the honor of training and mentoring a whole new batch of beach lifeguards.
